Comments: I think Helvellyn via Striding Edge is a route that all fellwalkers should do a somepoint on their travels. It really is the most exciting route up Helvellyn and not too tough.
Starting our ascent alongside Mires Beck. Thats Ullswater and Place Fell to the right.
Ullswater and Place Fell from much higher up - in fact we are only about 10 minutes from Birkhouse Moor summit.
Helvellyn standing proud at 3118ft. Striding Edge to the left and Swirral Edge to the right.
About halfway along Striding Edge with the toughest bit yet to come.
Steep and Rocky on both sides.
A view back to Ullswater ehind Birkhouse Moor.
Nice bit of a scramble.
Striding Edge.
Descending Swrral Edge... yes I forgot to take any photos at the top...
