Steel Fell and clear blue skies from the start of the ascent alongside Raise Beck.
My route alongside Raise Beck. Its a solid path alongside the beck and is gentle all the way to the top.
Sunlit Steel Fell.
A beautiful waterfall on Raise Beck.
A view over the central fells to the north western fells.
A close up of the north western fells. The two highest peaks are Grasmoor and Crag Hill.
Birk Fell and a small section of Ullswater. The Pennines in the distance.
St Sunday Crag.
Great Gable and Pillar over to the west.
The vale of Grasmere, Windermere to the far left, Esthwaite water just off centre left and Coniston Water to the right. The small tarn on the shelf to the left is Alcock Tarn.
A clear Scafell Pike and Great End.
Crinkle Crags and Bowfell over the Langdale Pikes. Easedale Tarn down to the left.
The summit cairn on Seat Sandal.
A little bit of snow along the wall down to Grisedale Hause.
Seat Sandal across Grisedale Tarn.
Grisedale and St Sunday Crag.
Dollywagon Pike summit.
Nethermost Pike and Helvellyn. Catstye Cam to the right.
Hard Tarn below Nethermost Pike.
Harrop Tarn.
Ullswater, Place Fell and the valley of Grisedale.
Nethermost Pike summit cairn.
Helvellyn, Catstye Cam and Striding Edge. I was thinking earlier that it may have been good enough to do Striding Egde today but once up here i'm happy I didn't! The wind was fairly strong, yet there were many people still crossing the edge.
Helvellyn summit cairn.
More snow on Helvellyn than everywhere else put together it seems!
Helvellyn trig col and Catstye Cam.
Snow drifts in the shelter.
Ullswater and Birkhouse Moor. Cross Fell on the horizon.
Striding Edge and Red Tarn. From here I descended down Birk Side towards Thirlmere.
Ullscarf to the left (where I was on my last walk) and Thirlmere.
A gorgous sunny view up Thirlmere on the descent around Comb Crags. Possibly one of the best views of the day! And shortly after I found that the sole on my boots is starting to come off... Time to send them back to Meindl!
Waterfalls on Birkside Gill on the way back to Dunmail Raise.
