After waking from a night shift it turns out half the country had been covered in a beautiful white blanket of snow and given the beautiful sunshine forecast for today I had to get out and enjoy this cold snap.

Todays walk was only local and took me along Kentwell Avenue to the beautiful 15th Century hall and round to join the Stour Valley Path. After heading down to the River Stour I turned back and followed a track leading into Kentwell Park from the west and returned to the avenue.

Long Melford Church just a few minutes into the walk.

A small amount of snow in the nearby fields. Yesterday there was far more but unfortunately due to a run of night shifts I couldn't go out to enjoy it until today.

Kentwell Avenue.

Kentwell Hall.

A beautiful 15th Century Hall, Open to the public throughout the year.

Following the footpath around the hall.

Beautiful gardens.

Snow covered fields around Kentwell.

Aerial view looking north towards Stanstead and Shimpling.

And a view west towards Stanstead from 400ft. The path I followed ran along the right hand edge of the woodland and forms part of the Stour Valley Path. The old tree you can make out on the far left is the one in the next photo.

Old dead looking tree.

Heading down into the Stour Valley.

This photo shows how icy it was heading back to Kentwell.

A final aerial shot of Kentwell Hall before I headed back to the church.
