High Cup Nick was the goal for todays walk and the forecast wasn't too great. We set off fairly early to make the best of the weather and although the forecast was for heavy rain in the morning it was completely dry and lovely weather to walk in. Unfortunately as we approached High Cup Nick the cloud descended and the heavens opened for the rest of the walk... we got completely soaked...

The route to High Cup Nick follows the Pennine Way and its just over 3 miles from here.

Dufton Pike.

A view over the Eden Valley towards Lakeland.

A few pointed hills ahead. I think the highest at the back is Murton Pike.

Distant views to what looks like Blencathra but is actually Kidsty Pike. From this angle it looks like a saddleback between Kidsty Pike and Rampsgill Head. The fell on the left is High Street.

A gate to open moorland. Here we turned right and continued alogn the Pennine Way.

Dufton Pike again.

A lovely hanging valley.

A view back down the way we have just came up.

Murton Pike.

It was just close to here that the cloud dropped and the rain started. We never got a view of High Cup escarpment so we will have to return one day!

The best view we got today of High Cup.

Old mine workings.

A rather murky view on the way down.

Back in Dufton.
