The weather was set to be rather poor today, with gales on the summits and frequent rain showers. I really am trying to finish off my second round of the Wainwrights so even though the weather isn't meant to be great I still decided to head up to Base Brown and Green Gable at the southern end of Borrowdale.

Sourmilk Gill crashing down the fellside. Lots of water up there today!

A view up the valley towards Browney Gill.

Sourmilk Gill waterfalls.

Signs of ancient mining action.

More waterfalls along Sourmilk Gill.

All wet down in Gillercomb.

The path up the valley and the cloud level descending.

The summit cairn on Base Brown with no views today.

Another view of the cairn. From here I headed up to Green Gable.

A quick photo of the summit and time to head down due to the strength of the wind.

Descending along Aaron Slack to Styhead Tarn.

The slopes of Seathwaite Fell.

Styhead Tarn and dramatic misty mountains.

The tumbling waters with a long view down Borrowdale.

The slopes of Glaramara.

Distant Blencathra.

Dramatic deep ravines on Base Brown.

A beautiful view over ancient trees.

A view up to Allen Crags.

Stockey Bridge again.
