This Red Tarn sits under the craggy, steep eastern slopes of Helvellyn at a height of 718m. On its north side is Swirral Edge, and south side is the famous Striding Edge - the most popular route of ascent up Helvellyn. It is a popular wild camping spot with people staying here during the night, and early in the morning, ascending Helvellyn to catch the sunrise to the east. | |||||
